Through webinars, leadership opportunities and scholarships, the ACOFP provides students with the tools to jump start their professional careers after they leave school. Before graduating, students will have the chance to gain insight into family medicine and practice working with others by taking advantage of all that the ACOFP offers.

Here are some specific ACOFP benefits for students:

The ACOFP offers webinars specifically for students, including Pivotal Decision: Rural Medicine Past, Present and Future and Residency Interviews – Beyond the Basics.

Student Chapters
The Student Association of the ACOFP is made up of more than 30 chapters from colleges of osteopathic medicine. Membership offers students opportunities for leadership positions and professional networking.

ACOFP Committees
Another way to build leadership skills is by serving on national or state ACOFP Committees as student liaisons, running for the ACOFP National Student Executive Board or applying for the Student Academic Member position on the ACOFP Board of Governors.

The Auxiliary to the ACOFP supports three student scholarships – Emerging Osteopathic Leader Scholarship, Marie Wiseman Memorial Student Scholarship and the Osteopathic Family Medicine Student Scholarship – totaling $30,000.

Student Newsletter, the President’s Newsletter and View from the Hill inform you about member news and federal health policies.

The Namey/Burnett Memorial Award is given to students, interns or residents who submits the best preventive medicine paper.

Scientific Journal Access
Osteopathic Family Physician is ACOFP’s official peer-reviewed journal that features original research, case reports and articles about preventive medicine, managed care, osteopathic principles and practices, pain management, public health, medical education and practice management. Read it online by logging into your account and clicking on the link for OFP.
